Bertolino

Located in the heart of the Piedmont region—specifically in the village of Montegrosso d’Asti in the province of Asti—Bertolino is a family-run estate. Founded in 1925, the Bertolino family has been working within the region’s world-renowned terroir, combining established heritage with a grounded, authentic regional approach.

The estate focuses on the native grape varieties that define Asti and the broader Monferrato landscape—Barbera, Nebbiolo and Cortese among them—drawing on the region’s clay-limestone soils and the cooling influences of the surrounding hills. Their aim is straightforward: “From the grape to the bottle” is their guiding phrase, hinting at careful viticulture, thoughtful cellar work and wines that express place and family.

At University Wines, we’re proud to be the only store in the United States to offer Bertolino wines. This exclusive access means our customers can discover wines from a genuine Piedmont producer whose portfolio is rarely seen outside Italy—offering something rare, local, and deeply rooted in terroir.
