Domaine René Leclerc, located in the prestigious village of Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy, is a family-run estate with a deep-rooted history in winemaking which began in 1896. The domaine was established by the Leclerc family, and over the generations, it has become synonymous with the production of elegant and powerful Pinot Noir wines. René Leclerc, who took over the reins in the mid-20th century, transformed the estate into a respected name in Burgundy, focusing on traditional methods which highlight the unique terroir of Gevrey-Chambertin.

Domaine René Leclerc is dedicated to preserving the character of the land, with each bottle of wine a true reflection of its terroir. The family owns parcels in some of the most esteemed vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the limestone-rich soils and cool climate create the perfect environment for producing complex, age-worthy wines. The vines, many of which are over 50 years old, are carefully tended to, with a focus on sustainable practices which respect the natural ecosystem.

René Leclerc has always believed in a hands-on approach to winemaking. The grapes are harvested by hand, allowing for careful selection of the best fruit. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged in French oak barrels, using a mix of new and old wood to add complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit. This traditional method, passed down through generations, results in wines which are both powerful and refined, with the structure to age beautifully over time. René’s son, François, who has now taken over the day-to-day operations, continues to uphold the family’s legacy, infusing each wine with the same dedication and attention to detail which has made the domaine a beloved name in the region.
