Thanksgiving Pairings

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and this month’s selections are made for gathering — bottles that shine at a crowded table, each with a story worth sharing. From crisp whites to soulful reds, these wines pair beautifully with the classics: turkey, stuffing, and everything in between.

Valckenberg Gewürztraminer 2022 – Pfalz, Germany

100% Gewürztraminer

A classic from Germany’s oldest wine-exporting house, founded in 1786. This wine is aromatic and expressive — full of lychee, rose petal, and a touch of spice. The texture is lush yet balanced with freshness.

Pair with: roasted turkey and herb stuffing, or sweet potatoes with a hint of brown sugar.

Domaine Philippe Raimbault Sancerre “Les Fossiles” 2023 – Loire Valley, France

100% Sauvignon Blanc

From vineyards on ancient fossil-rich limestone soils near Sancerre, this is precise, flinty, and mouth-watering. Philippe Raimbault, a small grower-producer, crafts his wines by hand, focusing on clarity and minerality.

Pair with: green bean casserole, oysters, or fresh goat cheese.

Schiopetto Pinot Bianco Collio 2022 – Friuli, Italia

100% Pinot Bianco

Mario Schiopetto was a pioneer of modern Friulian winemaking, bringing Bourgogne precision to Northern Italia. The 2022 Pinot Bianco is elegant and silky with notes of pear, white flowers, and hazelnut.

Pair with: mashed potatoes, buttery rolls, or roast turkey with pan gravy.

Stagard Ried Steiner Goldberg Riesling 2021 – Kremstal, Austria

100% Riesling (organic)

Urban and Dominique Stagård’s estate, dating to 1786, is one of Austria’s rising stars. Their “Steiner Goldberg” Riesling comes from steep, gneiss-based terraces and is fermented spontaneously in old oak. Dry, structured, and complex.

Pair with: glazed ham or roasted carrots with thyme and honey.

Domaine Jouard Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc 2021 – Bourgogne, France

100% Chardonnay

From brothers Maurice and Philippe Jouard’s small domaine in Chassagne, this is quintessential white Bourgogne — layered, elegant, and mineral-driven, with subtle oak and ripe orchard fruit.

Pair with: roast turkey with gravy, or buttery garlic mashed potatoes.

Château de Raousset Morgon “Douby” 2021 – Beaujolais, France

100% Gamay

Family-run since the 19th century, Raousset produces some of Beaujolais’ most refined wines. The Morgon “Douby” vineyard gives soft tannins and bright cherry fruit with a floral lift.

Pair with: cranberry sauce, roasted squash, or herb-rubbed turkey.

Christelle Betton Vin de France Syrah 2023 – Northern Rhône, France

100% Syrah

Christelle Betton farms just a few hectares in Crozes-Hermitage. Her Syrah is graceful and pure — violets, black pepper, and a hint of smoke.

Pair with: sausage stuffing, roasted root vegetables, or mushroom gravy.

Les Rocailles Mondeuse 2023 – Savoie, France

100% Mondeuse

From Alpine vineyards overlooking the French Alps, this indigenous red bursts with blackberry, pepper, and wild herbs. Light-bodied yet vibrant — a fantastic cool-weather red.

Pair with: roasted turkey with cranberry compote or wild-mushroom stuffing.

Murgo Etna Rosso 2022 – Sicilia, Italia

95% Nerello Mascalese, 5% Nerello Cappuccio

Murgo’s vineyards sit on the slopes of Mount Etna, producing mineral-driven reds with volcanic flair. Cherry, pomegranate, and smoky earth make this a standout with food.

Pair with: herb-rubbed turkey or roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta.

Garage Wine Co. Cabernet Sauvignon “Reeligido Vineyard” 2019 – Maule Valley, Chile

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Garage Wine Co. is a small Chilean producer reviving forgotten vineyards. The Reeligido site is dry-farmed and hand-harvested, yielding deep, old-vine concentration and savory complexity.

Pair with: roast beef, prime rib, or rich turkey gravy.

Schiopetto “Rivarossa” 2019 – Friuli, Italia

Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon

A limited red blend from Friuli’s limestone hills, combining Bordeaux varieties with Italian finesse. Structured and polished, with notes of plum, cedar, and spice.

Pair with: roast lamb or mushroom-based stuffing.

Garage Wine Co. “Truquilemu Empedrado” 2020 – Maule Valley, Chile

Field blend led by Carignan

From century-old, dry-farmed vines, this field blend expresses freshness and depth — red fruit, mint, and fine tannins. Made with minimal intervention and native yeast.

Pair with: dark-meat turkey or roasted vegetables.

Casetta Barolo Riserva 2009 – Piemonte, Italia

100% Nebbiolo

Aged for over ten years before release, this Riserva from the Casetta family shows classic Barolo aromas of dried roses, truffle, and tar, with elegant tannins and long finish.

Pair with: prime rib, truffle risotto, or aged cheese.
